My name is Monica and I am the Founder/Owner of Scorpio Candle Company. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and I have two adult children. I graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Leadership in May 2022, from Rosemont College. I started Scorpio Candle Co. after graduating because of my love of candles. I did not want to buy the big-box store's (Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candles) candles anymore so, that is where my journey began.
I love candles and anything thing that smells good so, I wanted to learn how to make my own. I began to research candle-making and made some test candles to burn and for my family to test too. I learned the candle-making terms, where to buy wholesale products, the equipment to make candles, the "science" that it takes to make candles, and much more. I learned about the different types of wax (soy, paraffin, coconut, etc.) that can be used to make candles. After researching the types of wax, I chose to use soy wax, because I wanted to make a natural burning candle. Soy wax is a natural wax produced from American-grown soybeans and does not produce soot when burning or blown out. Soy wax burns slowly and evenly in conjunction with the cotton wicks that I use.
